This is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 smartphone. The package includes the smartphone itself, a PC sync cable, a network adapter (charger) and a transparent polyurethane case.

Design
The appearance is similar to the predecessors of the Redmi family, it consists of a composite body.
The central part is metal, it is also the main one. There are two plastic inserts, which, although different from the main one, are not striking. The quality of materials is excellent, the case is without creaks and backlashes.
The main camera module protrudes, with a dual sensor. Also on the back panel is a conveniently located fingerprint scanner platform, which is easily identified by touch and works perfectly.
On the front panel there is an indicator of missed events, “bangs”, as it is fashionable now, no. The screen is rounded, there are no hardware buttons. Instead, they left a wide strip of space that is not used in any way.
The volume control and power buttons are located on the right side, their size and triggering do not cause any questions. The appearance is reliable, and should last a long time.
The upper end, in addition to an additional microphone, also received an infrared port, which allows you to use your smartphone as a control panel for most modern household appliances. In everyday life, it will be a useful function.
The manufacturer equipped the lower end with a micro USB connector, an audio output and a main speaker. For some reason, Xiaomi will not switch to the new Type-C in any way. When will micro YUSB run out at Chinese factories?

Display
The device received an IPS display with 2.5 D glass, a diagonal of which is 5.99 inches with a resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels. The frame around the screen is 3 mm thick on the sides, and 1 cm on the top and bottom.
The brightness of the screen is adjusted both manually and in automatic mode, which is based on the readings of the ambient light sensor.
According to tests, the multitouch screen simultaneously responds to 10 touches. It is scratch resistant and anti-reflective.
The viewing angles are excellent with no color shifts, even at maximum deviations.
The device received a slightly aggressive brightness adjustment depending on the displayed image. Thus, dark pictures reduce the brightness of the backlight. The included reading mode does not bother the eyes, the balance of colors is pleasing to the eye.
Summing up, I would like to note the excellent brightness with a high-quality anti-glare effect, thanks to which the smartphone is comfortable to use even in direct sunlight.
Camera
The role of the main camera is provided by a dual lens with a resolution of 12 + 5 megapixels. The auxiliary sensor is for Portrait mode.
The settings mode is peculiar, there is a manual setting, which is necessary for advanced users. Bokeh portraits are good quality. Common photos are also great. Detailing at the highest level. There were no problems with sharpness or focusing.
Optics with a resolution of 13 megapixels with a proprietary Beautify option are used as a front camera. Photos are of medium quality with poor detail and faded shades. The sharpness of the frames does not suffer. This is not the highest level of selfie shots, but no one hoped to get it.
Hardware part
The “heart” of the smartphone is represented by the Snapdragon 636 chipset, which includes an X 12 LTE modem that provides data download at high speed. The device also supports dual band Wi – Fi and Bluetooth 5 version.
Graphics processing is provided by the Adreno 509 accelerator, and the amount of “RAM” is 3 or 4 or 6 Gigabytes with an internal storage capacity of 32 or 64 Gigabytes. The installed chip is an improved version of the 630 model, which is 40 percent ahead of it. Although the platform is rated as average, the test results are very high.
Software platform
Out of the box, Redmi Note 5 comes preinstalled with Android 8 version 8.1 with a proprietary launcher and the possibility of further upgrades over the air.
The interface of its own shell contains a sufficient number of settings, supports gesture control and many other interesting functions. The device also has a face unlock function that works flawlessly even when wearing sunglasses.
The audio capabilities of the smartphone are also at their best, the speaker plays loudly and cleanly, the sound is gorgeous in the headphones. It is possible to customize the sound for a specific type of headphones.
Smartphone autonomy
A non-removable 4000 mAh battery is responsible for the autonomy of Redmi Note 5. This capacity, taking into account the economical SoC, is quite enough for a day and a half of active use.
An uninterruptedly running reader application drains the battery in 22 hours, while watching a video with Wi-Fi on does it in just under 16 hours.
The device supports the fast charging function, which, unfortunately, is not included in the package.
Outcomes
The smartphone is definitely good, and this is with high-quality technical data and an adequate price. The price for a large bright screen, excellent hardware and support for all modern technologies is more than attractive.
The only thing the manufacturer saved on was the contactless payment module and the outdated micro YUSB port. In short, a smartphone is worth its money and today – this model is very interesting among competitors. This applies to both the youth niche of fans and people from the office structure.
